​Jose Casillas

​

Jose attended St. Gerard Catholic High School from 9th grade to his Senior Year. All three years he had High Honors. He held the position of treasurer for his Sophomore class and President for his Junior class. He was also in Student Council and served as Vice President. His excellent grades and positions are what led his to join the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Society. He was taking duel credit at St. Philips college and is now taking the steps toward becoming a doctor. 

2011 - 2012 Recipient

Courtney Nieto

Courtney attended St.Gerard Catholic High School and graduated as Salutatorian. Throughout her four years she was a Royal Ambassador, National Honors Society member for four years and held the position of president. She was a cheerleader, a dance team member and captain. A member of Mu Alpha Theta, tennis team player, and class president. During her high school years she volunteered at her old elementary school, a local high school,  the Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Children's Museum,  and dance teacher for youth. Courtney previously attended Palo Alto College and majored in Psychology while working at Sea World as a performer. Now she is attending San Houston State University and majoring in Mass Communications.

 

2010 - 2011 Recipient

Indra Pinckney graduated as Salutatorian of St. Gerard Catholic High School class of 2010. She was actively involved in many student organizations and sports teams including; National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), Student Government, Spanish Club,Varsity Basketball Team, Varsity Cheerleading/ Dance Team, Varsity Tennis, and 2x Varsity MVP and all district Volleyball. She was also actively involved in her church, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, as an alter server, part of the dance team, the youth choir, as well as the Knights of Peter Claver Jr. Daughters Santa Monica court #35. She enjoyed her academics, especially while attending dual credit classes for two years at St. Phillips College. Indra has completed her undergraduate courses and now working on her Masters degree at the University of Texas at Arlington majoring in Criminal Justice. She is pursuing her plans of furthering her education and is living her life fulfilling Gods will and plan for her.

​Cecille Sorio 

 

Cecille is the first recipient of the Melissa Villalpando Achievement Award offered through Hope for the Future. She has donated countless hours of service and is in the top percentile of her junior class. She is involved in organizations such as Student Council, the Video Club, and the school choir. This young lady has served on team for youth ACTS retreats and is the youth choir director and at Santa Nino Catholic Church. She is a Varsity Track and Field Athlete and is recognized as a student leader on campus. She is described as an outstanding student, with an exemplary attitude and performance. This person demonstrates how dedication and a positive attitude contribute to success. Her creativity and passion not only inspired but captured the hearts of the members of our selection committee.

2012 - 2013 Recipient

​Clarissa Cantu

 

Clarissa Cantu is now a graduate of St. Gerard Catholic High School. She was top 10% ranking of her Senior class and involved in athletics, playing varsity volleyball, basketball, and softball all four years. Clarissa took part in the school chamber choir singing at special events, mass, and in choir competitions throughout Texas. She was in the National Honor Society and held the offices of treasurer and secretary. She was a member of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and held the office of secretary. She was also a student ambassador for the high school and was involved in peer mediation. She is now attending the University of Incarnate word and is majoring in Criminal Justice. Clarissa is currently a sophomore and has made the Dean's List the past 3 semesters of her enrollment. She still finds time to show her support to her Alma Mater as well as volunteers/participates in our Royal Classic 3on3.

Christian Garcia

2013 - 2014 Recipient

Christian Garcia received our Melissa Villalpando Service Award for $500.00 for his exemplary acts of service. This scholar even volunteers to assist at our scholarship fundraising events. Christian Garcia attended Holy Cross of San Antonio all 4 years of High School. He was a member of the football team his freshman year and played varsity tennis all 4 years. Christian was involved in student government, a Peer Mentor, and a member of National Honor Society for 2 years. When he started high school his biggest goal was to be the first person in his family to graduate with National Honor Society status and he accomplished this goal. Christian plans to attend Palo Alto College this fall to major in kinesiology. Then, plans to transfer to UTSA to major in both Sports Management and Exercise Science while pursuing a minor in Marketing. His goal is to work for a sports agency. 

Austin Hart

2013 - 2014 Recipient

Austin Hart was awarded the Melissa Villalpando Achievement Award in the amount of $1000.00 for his overall outstanding academic performance, leadership roles, and committment to serving others. He will graduate from St. Anthony Catholic High School this May.

Dylan DeLaGarza

Dylan is attending Holy Cross of San Antoniocand will graduate as Class of 2015. He was awarded the Melissa Villalpando Acheivement Award in the amount of $1000. He is the second scholar to receive the award from Holy Cross High School.

Christopher Colunga

Christopher is a student at St. Gerard Catholic High School and will graduate as Class of 2015. He was awarded the Melissa Villalpando Service Award in the amount of $250. He is also featured on the new St. Gerard Television Commercial.
