Q: How many players are allowed on a team?

A: Each team is allowed up to 5 players. 3 players on the court, 2 subs.

 

Q: What are the age divisions?
A: Male age divisions:  12-14, 15-18, 19-25, 26+
     Female & Co-ed age divisions: 10-11, 16-18, 19+

 

Q: Can I play on more than one team?
A: No, players may not appear on more than one roster.

 

Q: How do I get my team’s schedule?
A: Brackets will be posted at check in on the day of the tournament.

 

Q: Do the younger kids play on a lower hoop?
A: No.  All teams play on 10 foot hoops.

 

Q: How many games will my team play?
A: There is a 2 game guarantee. It also depends on your team’s win-loss record and the size of your age bracket.

 

Q: What will I need to bring with me to registration at the tournament?
A: Identification and proof of age will be required at check-in. For players over 16, a driver’s license is acceptable. Players under the age of 16 must show their birth certificate.
Every participant (Including parent or guardian if player is under 18 years of age) must read and sign waiver form before they can participate in 3on3. Forms will be available online for review and also will be given at tournament check-in on day of. If a parent or guardian does not accompany players younger than 18 on day of, please sign waiver form prior to March 22 and bring to registration check-in.

 

Q. Is there a female division?
A: Yes, there is a female division. However, they will be placed on a Co-ed bracket if there are not enough female teams to form a division.

 

Q: What does our team wear?
A: We recommend wearing similar colors to be easily identified during play by referee and court monitor.

 

Q: What prizes do winners receive?
A: Champions in each division receive a championship t-shirt, a Royal Classic first place medal, and a gift card.

 

Q: Who is organizing the tournament?
A: The Melissa Villalpando Memorial Scholarship Fund.

 

Q: How long has this tournament been held?
A: This is our 5th  3 on 3 tournament and our 2nd time hosting the event at St. Mary’s University.

 

Q: Where do the proceeds go after the tournament?
A: The Melissa Villalpando Memorial Scholarship Fund was founded in memory of Melissa Villalpando, who passed away in February of 2009 due to a pulmonary heart condition. She was the original director of the Royal Classic. The proceeds will go toward the scholarships we reward to (2) students that have followed Melissa’s example to serve their community, church, and school. The scholarship goes toward a portion of their school tuition.
